I'm not actually sure I'll be in the running for the award this year because I didn't sacrifice life and limb for the sake of pictures of the soccer game final. I even sent my babies out into the POURING rain - not just a little bit of rain, but a downpour. I sat in the car, warm and cozy, taking pictures of the game I could see, through the window. Epic Fail. I did, however, give my ski jacket to Zach so he could be warmer while on the sidelines between his time on the field. Does that count for something?
Sunday night was the night of the final soccer games our two junior mints were in. It was a balmy 43 degrees outside and lots of pouring rain. Actually, it was miserable. Our umbrellas were in the car with the new driver in the house as he had a club soccer practice in the Columbus area. An hour away. So since I am a good mom, I drove around in circles waiting for a front row seat to pop up so I could park and watch the game from the car. Meanwhile, Rodger went out on the coaches sideline to help in his assistant coach spot. He was our family representative. Fortunately, the kids' games were at the same time so we didn't have to be in two different places at one time. Their fields were right beside each other too! How wonderful!
I already posted some pics of Chloe and one of her tourney games, so here are Zach's final game pics (viewed from the inside of our Durango):
The kids were a little wet. And cold.
The boys ended up getting runner up - second place, in the tournament final. They played well and had a wonderful coach! Dave does a great job with the boys.
For the record, I didn't even get out of the car to take these pictures... Rodger came and got the camera from me and I drove up to where the boys were. I was on a mercy mission though! Chloe was trying to rip off her shoes and shin guards, socks and soaked sweatshirt.
When Zach got in the car he did the same. It was a two man job for both of them. I think their shoes and socks were frozen to their bodies!
I might get bumped up for award status though, because we hightailed it straight to McDonalds for a hot chocolate and french fries! That got me some bonus points! It also helped turn their lips back to pink color from the blue hue they were.
So soccer is done for them. We are giddy! I can feel summer break on the horizon.
