Are many of you into basketball? I'm sooo not into that sport that I can only tell you the name of a few token players of old because a childhood neighbor girl had posters in her room of these players. She loved basketball so much and had posters plastered all over the walls in her room. I was not into that kind of poster. By the way, do girls still put posters up in their rooms? Mine don't. But I digress. I had posters of the cute movie stars, smiling with all their pearly whites all up in your face. That 80's hairstyle ever so lightly feathered back... Eww.
Anyway, I have a son that is sooo into basketball, football and soccer that I have to wonder who's child he is? Rodger and I really don't care about sports so much. I probably would watch football in the fall and winter if we had cable, but we don't, therefore I don't really watch sports.
Josh has an ESPN app. on his iTouch and he gets all the updates of who's who and who is winning what bracket and what the scores are. I think you get it - son loves basketball and March Madness has arrived.
I am an insensitive ogre. I actually had the nerve to say yes to a ballroom dancing invite from a friend. We have taken the kids one other time and they really had a good time. But that wasn't during March Madness.
When I said yes, I unleashed some March Madness over here at Top Of The Hill because it officially was "on"! The bar room brawl was on, hot and heavy all week long. How could I have said yes when there were games to watch. Scores to compare. Brackets to win!! OH LAWSIE, the world is going to END!
You know when you have a feeling that someone is going to die on a battle hill. And it isn't going to be you. Yea, that happened here.
I say, that child should be a lawyer with the tenacity he used all week long in trying to get me to back down on the ballroom dancing. Except he hates to read unless forced to read for school. And then there is weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. So being a lawyer is out of the question for him.
We ended up going ballroom dancing and everyone had a wonderful time. I mean, there was joking and laughing and somehow at the end of the night the March Madness was not around in attitude any more. There was even time to go and watch games at Grandpa's on Saturday.
I guess the hill I was dying on was one of principle. There were others that really wanted to go and sometimes we need to lay down our own desires for the benefit of others. It is much better to learn this now than later on in life when you have been making others so miserable with your own selfishness. It is also a good reminder for me to make sure I am also considering others before myself. I suppose I'll have to give him a free pass to go and watch the games at Grandpa and Grandma's when there is a good game on. I'm not too much of an ogre. Yet.
Here are some pics of the ballroom dancing night:

I want to go sometime with Titia. That looks fun.
Seriously you guys, it is so much fun! They have it every third Friday of the month ~ except in the summers b/c there are weddings being held there :)
