It was a Reel Reunion

Family reunions for me are always such fun!  I love getting together with family and being able to catch up on what is going on in everyone's lives.

This time it was a family reunion on Rodger's side of the family and I knew it was going to be great!  Rodger's cousin Leanne was in charge of food.  You see, Leanne is a chef and baker.  That can pretty much spell disaster for any soul that should loose about five pounds.  Or ten.  But who's counting!

Leanne hosted a 50th Anniversary party for my mother and father-in-law last June and OH MY!  The food was spectacular.  So I knew that if she was hosting this year, then we were going to get there.  No matter what.  There might be a tornado coming but we are taking the scenic route around that tornado to get to that reunion!

Guess who wasn't disappointed?  Moi, and every other soul that was fortunate enough to be there!  If you couldn't make it, well, live vicariously through these pictures!

Mr. Kitty Cat was all about the food table.  I have never seen a more forlorn looking face in all my life.  If you were close to the food, he was your new best friend.  BFF's 4 Ever!  I think there must have been an invisible force field around the tables because I never actually saw "Moo Moo" jump up on the table for the food.

This lemon cake...  Oh gracious!  It was my undoing!  Sophie and I shared a piece and frankly, I was the winner because I got the icing part.  It was like a slice of heaven.  I thought I heard the baby angels singing in the background as I was eating this cake.  It was that good!

Rodger was eating the chocolate and it was just as good.  I am a true, dyed in the wool, chocoholic.  I admit it.  So naturally I had to sneak off with a bite of his.  It was food for a suffering soul, I tell you.  In case you have an event coming up that requires that extra touch of goodness, you can find Leanne right here!

Ok, I know I have a ton of delicious looking food pictures so you may be wondering if I only went for the food?  Yes.  Oh wait, NO!  There happened to be some of the best people ever at this shin-dig!

The elders who made it all happen, and their kids, minus one wonderful brother who wanted this reunion to happen.  Ken is now at peace with his God, but he was sorely missed at this reunion though.

Mischief makers...

Catching up on life

There were games of croquet, bocce ball, a water balloon toss that escalated into a def con 5 war zone, softball tossing and catching, water gun attacks, food consuming (Because that is a competition.  Don't believe me?  Follow the teenagers around and see what happens...).

We ended the night out in the woods at a campfire, praying the ticks had tucked themselves in for the night!  This is actually the same place I had my first three ticks within an hour.  On my leg.  Now that is a story.  I didn't know ticks jumped, but these are some hearty, country breed that leaped yards to get to me - the fresh blood!  So to save myself from the possibility of getting one on the way to the campfire, I drove my vehicle through the woods to where we were going.  Don't judge me.  I'm a diagnosed tick hater.

We eventually had to come home since there were kids that were wilting and fatigue was setting in.  We all had a wonderful day, the weather was beautiful, seeing family was great, and Leanne did a fantastic job with the food!  Now it's back to reality...

I hope you all had as wonderful of a day as we did.  Blessings to you!
